It’s interesting when people are the hungriest to hear from their Pastor… The preacher can encourage the congregation to be faithful to read their Bibles – “Oh, but preacher you don’t understand, I don’t really like to read”, but you’ve got no problem reading text messages throughout the day… Be faithful to pray – “Oh, but preacher you don’t understand, I don’t really have time to spend in prayer every day”, but you’ll have time to talk to other people throughout the day… Be faithful to church when the doors are open – “Oh, but preacher you don’t understand, I have other things which demand my time and attention”, but you’ll make time for a child’s sporting event… Be faithful with your tithes and offerings – “Oh, but preacher you don’t understand, I can’t afford to give”, but your cable television, internet, and smartphone are all paid up… Be faithful to witness to others, “Oh, but preacher you don’t understand, I get nervous and I don’t know what to say”, but you will talk about the game this weekend, or the the latest in the news, or some other trivial thing which took place… Live holy and clean lives – “Oh, but preacher you don’t have the right to tell me how I should live”, but if your job requires a uniform or adherence to a dress code, you'll comply… Come to church every service you can during our special meetings – “Oh, but preacher you don’t understand, I’m just so tired”, but you’ll show up when you are scheduled for work…

Isn’t it interesting how many don’t want to hear from the preacher who preaches God’s Word, but when the roads are bad, even though it’s the day before any church service will start, everyone is desirous to know what the Pastor will say? If only we had that kind of hunger to hear from the preacher every Saturday night and every church service…just a thought.
