• What is the daily school schedule?

School is Monday-Thursday from 8:00 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. Fridays will be used for snow days and/or field trips (if applicable). 

 

• What grade will my child be transitioning into?

Upon meeting with the school principal and secretary, each student will be given a diagnostic test. The diagnostic test results help to identify academic weaknesses and prescribe a path to help students catch up. 


• What type of diploma can my child earn?

Three types of diplomas are offered: College-Prepatory, Vocational & General. Contact the school for more specific details.


• What clothing is required for school?

All LBA students will be asked to wear our school uniform, which is as follows: the girls will wear a navy-blue, knee-length, dress skirt and a burgundy Polo shirt ordered from Stec's in Rapid City (with the school's logo imprinted on it); the boys will wear navy blue slacks and a burgundy Polo shirt ordered from Stec's in Rapid City (with the school's logo imprinted on it). Students are allowed to wear dress shoes, casual shoes, tennis shoes (mostly solid in color), or boots. LBA also has specific rules concerning hair color, hair designs, hair length, etc. These rules are outlined in the Student Handbook. • What clothing is required for PE or gym class?

GIRLS: A modest, loose-fitting T-Shirt, knee-length culottes, socks & tennis shoes should be worn. 

BOYS: A T-Shirt, athletic pants, socks & tennis shoes should be worn.


• Are a certain type of shoes required?

LBA students (both male & female) are allowed to wear dress shoes, casual shoes, tennis shoes (mostly solid in color), or boots.


• Do you make accommodations for children with disabilities?

We make every effort to accommodate children with mild disabilities. Our principal is available to discuss specific needs.


 If my child misses school, will they have makeup work?

Yes, they will need to make up the missed work.


• How often do you send home updates or report cards?

Approximately half-way through each quarter, a report will be sent home outlining the student’s progress. Also,at the end of each quarter, report cards will be sent home showing the student’s grades & progress.


• Do you offer hot lunch?

No, the school does not provide hot lunch. However, there are refrigerators & microwaves available for the students to use.


• How long is lunch time?

Lunch time is about 30-45 minutes long.


• Can my child carry their own medication, or do they need to give it to a staff member?

No staff member will administer any medication, tranquilizers, or aspirin to any student for any reason without written authorization from parents. When enrolling your child(ren), you will be asked to fill out a medical release form that will give the staff permission to administer certain over-the-counter medication.


• Can my child have a jacket in class with them?

A coat, sweater or hoodie can be worn over the uniform in the classroom.Students must wear the school uniform under their coat, sweater, or hoodie. Checks will be performed periodically throughout the year.  Students will be sent home if not appropriately dressed


• Can I give permission for someone else to pick up my child from school?

Yes, permission may be given for someone other than the parent to pick up their child from school. You will need to give the name of the person(s) to the school office. This will be done on the application for enrollment.


• Will I be contacted if my child gets injured?

Yes, depending on the nature of the injury, parents will be contacted either immediately or at the end of the day. When applying for enrollment, you will sign a “medical release” form, which will give the LBA staff the permission to make immediate medical decisions in your absence, if necessary. However, if possible, we will contact you before making any major decisions.


• Are students allowed to chew gum in class?

Gum will be allowed at the discretion of the teacher. No gum in Music Class.


• What methods of discipline are used?

Learning without discipline is impossible. Student offenses will result in a measure of discipline called demerits. If a student receives 3 or more demerits in a day, they will be asked to serve detention. Students will serve detention on the following day unless arrangements have been made with the teacher. Students in K5 – 5th will serve detention on breaks. Students in 6th - 12th grades will serve detention after school or during school.

A student may be automatically suspended for the following reasons: lying, cheating, stealing, using foul language, fighting, talking back to staff, or showing disrespect for the Bible, flags, or parents , and improper conduct.

Any student who repeatedly pushes the rules to the limit or refuses to follow the rules may be asked to leave. We are not a reform school. Our purpose is to train students to love the Lord and to serve Him in every area of their lives. If a student is not willing to do this, he should not be attending Liberty Baptist Academy.


• Does the school have field trips?

Yes, there are occasional field trips throughout the school year.


• Does the school have a music program?

LBA has an educational, but fun music class for both elementary & middle/high school students. The students will also have the chance to participate in various seasonal programs throughout the school year. The middle/high school students will have the option to play chimes (a type of handbells). Periodically, the middle/high school may participate in music competitions.


• Can I drop off my child before 8:00 a.m. and/or pick up my child after 3:30 p.m.?

In order for the staff to prepare for the school day, students should arrive at school between 7:40 am to 8:00 am.  Please do not leave your child unattended before this time. The school or church will not be responsible for a child left unattended before the time stated above. Children must be picked up promptly or arrangements with other parents to do so must be made.  Students dropped off before 7:40 am or picked up after 3:45 pm will be charged for the services at the rate of $10.00 per 15 minutes.  If a student must stay after school for a detention, parents are to supervise their other children while waiting.


• What is the school’s policy on bullying?

Students that attend LBA are expected to treat other students in a kind, Christian manner.


• Do you take payments? or do I need to pay the entire tuition amount up front?

Yes, we accept payments throughout the year. Tuition and Pace fees may be paid quarterly or monthly depending on the type of finance plan chosen. Tuition is due at the beginning of each quarter or month. Statements will be mailed out quarterly or monthly showing the balance due.


• What methods of payment do you accept?

We accept cash or check.


• Can I go along on field trips with my children?

Yes, parents are welcome to attend scheduled field trips. Please to notify the school office in advance if you are going to come with your child(ren) on a field trip.


 Is transportation available?

We do not offer organized transportation. We make every effort to get students to school. Please contact the school office with specific questions.


 Is LBA accredited?

Liberty Baptist Academy operates under the "Alternative Instruction" clause of SD. Of which, we fulfill all of the state's requirements. However, we are not accredited. This is by our choice, not the State’s. If you have questions about this, please contact us!
